LESSON 4: WHAT SHOULD I WORSHIP?
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 22:36-38
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.”
FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS
This week, we researched what other worldviews worship. As a family, read the summary of each worldview.
Islam: If you use the Islamic map as your worldview map, you worship Allah. You believe Allah is the one and only God. He is not three persons in one. Allah is simply one. You think that when Christians say Jesus is God’s Son it means they worship two different Gods. Allah is not the same as the God Christians worship. Because Allah is one, he needs people outside of himself in order for him to have relationships. As a Muslim, you believe that a man named Mohammed was Allah’s best and final prophet (messenger). You do not worship Mohammed, but you study the Quran. The Quran is a book that Mohammed told others came from Allah.
Postmodernism: If you use the postmodern map as your worldview map, you think things are much too blurry to know what is True or even what is real. But you do not think that it is important to know the Truth. All you care about knowing is what is important to your community. Whatever your community believes is what you will believe. Different communities believe different things and that is okay. Your community is what is most important to you.
As a family, discuss what each worldview worships. How might worshiping these different things affect your choices and behaviors?
Spend some time thanking God for creating you to worship Him. Ask that God would be at work in the hearts and minds of those who follow Islam and postmodernism, showing them that they were designed to worship Him.
7th - 8TH GRADE
This year for 7th and 8th grade Quest will be delving into Proverbs, exploring how to apply biblical wisdom to everyday life. Our goal is to build a strong relationship with God and make Jesus our anchor as we navigate life.
BOYS: We took time to pause and reflect on what we’ve learned and explored two questions: What is my why? and Who gives me my why? We will look to plant seeds that can give each individual a hunger for God and wisdom
GIRLS: WHAT IS TRUTH? (Proverbs 2:6-8)
According to Scripture, what is truth? (See Proverbs 2:6, Psalm 119:160 and John 14:6)
Is this something you can align yourself with?
How do you handle someone who says they have a different truth?

Ingrid has been teaching kids Bible stories and singing Bible songs on her guitar at Door Church for nearly forty years. She continues to faithfully teach God’s Word to our youngest Questers.
ALISHA GOMEZ
1ST & 2ND GRADE
“It gives me great joy to do what God has called me to do, teach. I’m truly honored to have the opportunity to teach our next generation. I believe it is important for children to be taught about our Creator God as early as possible. I look forward to many more years if God allows.”
ERICA INGRAHAM
3RD & 4TH GRADE
“I am so excited to be a part of Quest and to help kids see that they too can read, understand and apply God’s Word to their lives. God’s Word is alive and active today, as well as backed up by history, prophecy and archaeology. Nothing is more exciting or inspiring than seeing the kids have lightbulb moments when they truly understand, or their faith has been increased.”
SUSANNA UNRUH
5TH GRADE
“It is my true honor and joy to teach in Quest 119. I love finding creative ways to present biblical truths to my students. As we explore God’s Word together, I pray that they come to know God personally and become deeply rooted in their own faith.”
ALEX FLORES
6TH GRADE
Along with his wife, Iris, Alex has a big heart to disciple young people in the truth of God’s Word to form the foundation of their lives as they enter their teen years.
JESSICA GREER
7TH & 8TH GRADE GIRLS
“I’m grateful to be part of Quest, and its unique mission to strategically impart biblical knowledge, wisdom and thinking into children and pre-teens. It is a privilege to be able to use my professional background to be a part of this ministry.”
DANIEL MURPHY
7TH & 8TH GRADE BOYS
“My goal for the young men in my class is to spark their interest, expand their understanding of themselves and the world around them, push them to take on the responsibility of manhood, show them the depths and grace of the gospel, and to either stoke their love for Christ or allow them a place to meet Him.”
