KINDER - 5th GRADE

LESSON 4: Grumbling to Grateful
(Psalm 23:5, 2 Samuel 9:3-7, 1 Samuel 16:1-13)

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 23:1-3a
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS:

  • How did Samuel anoint David as king? Why do shepherds anoint their sheep’s head with oil?

  • How did David show kindness to his enemy’s grandson?

  • What word describes the cup of God’s goodness is Psalm 23:5? What is something good right now that you can thank God for?

6th GRADE

LESSON 1: HOW DID LIFE BEGIN?

MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 1:26-28

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he cre?ated him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This week, we discussed what makes humans different from other creatures.

With your family, read Genesis 1:26–28.

  • According to these verses, how were humans created different from any other creature?

  • What jobs did God give to Adam and Eve?

  • According to these verses, what makes you, as a human, special?

7th - 8TH GRADE

This year for 7th and 8th grade Quest will be delving into Proverbs, exploring how to apply biblical wisdom to everyday life. Our goal is to build a strong relationship with God and make Jesus our anchor as we navigate life.

  • How would you describe “the strain of a sinful life” mentioned in verse 8?

  • How does this affect one’s body and mind?

  • Imagine being free from this kind of mental or physical strain. How might a person’s life be different without it?
