5th GRADE

BIBLE TIME PERIOD: EXILE

MEMORY VERSE: Jeremiah 29:11-12

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

Even though God’s people were sent away from their homeland, God did not abandon them. He went with them. During this time, God used His people in their captivity to do great things.  People like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego remained faithful to God in a country where people did know and worship the One True God.

  • How have you seen God’s faithfulness to your family?

  • What are some ways that your family stays faithful to God in a culture that is unfaithful to Him?

6th GRADE

LESSON 1: LIFE CONTAINS INFORMATION

MEMORY VERSE: Colossians 1:16-17 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

This week, we reviewed what a worldview is and compared a worldview to a map. With your family, review what a worldview is. Ask them if they can remember how a worldview is similar to a map. If they can’t do this, explain what you reviewed today!

Today we also talked about life and what makes things alive.

  • With your family, write down a list of all the living things you have in your house.

  • What do these things have in common?

Every living thing has information inside of it that tells it how to grow and what to do. Isn’t that incredible? Spend time as a family thanking God for making living things and giving them the information they need.
