MEMORY VERSE: Romans 3:23-24

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

This week we explored Abraham in the Patriarchs time period of the Bible.

  • What are some things that God promised to Abraham and his descendants? (Genesis 17:1-8)

  • Abraham called God “Jehovah-Jireh, The Lord Will Provide.” What did God provide for Abraham and what did God provide for us?

6th GRADE

LESSON 4: WHAT IS TRUTH?

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

This week, we looked at how Truth is True for everyone.

  • With your family, list several Truths that do not change, no matter how someone feels about them.

We also learned the difference between Truths and feelings.

  • Explain to your family the difference between something that is True and something that is a feeling.

  • Ask your family members if they can think of a time when they thought they knew the Truth and then they read God’s Word and realized what they thought was True turned out to be a feeling.

7th - 8TH GRADE

This year for 7th and 8th grade Quest will be delving into Proverbs, exploring how to apply biblical wisdom to everyday life. Our goal is to build a strong relationship with God and make Jesus our anchor as we navigate life.

BOYS: Tonight we’ll be exploring the beginning of Proverbs and learning about why we should value wisdom and shun those who are foolish and despise wisdom.

One question we’ll ask the boys to ask a parent is, “Who do you go to for wisdom, and what about them made you trust their advice?”

GIRLS: WISDOM SPEAKS (Proverbs 1:20-33) [Week 1]

  • Wisdom appears somewhat harsh in verse 22. To whom is Wisdom calling?

  • What do they love? What do they enjoy? What do they hate?

  • Do you know anyone similar to this?
