LESSON 2: WHAT IS TRUTH?

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

This week we looked at what God’s Word teaches us about the Truth. Look up the following verses together and discuss what each verse tells you about the Truth.

  • Isaiah 45:18–19

  • John 8:31–32

  • John 14:6

  • John 18:37

  • 1 Timothy 2:3–5

7th - 8TH GRADE

MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 1:1-3 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.”

Session 2: Man Sins

  • How might a right perspective of sin help us have a right understanding of God’s grace?

  • What happens when you only focus on the behavioral aspects of sin and not what is taking place within the heart?

  • How does the truth that God is grieved by our sin influence the way you deal with personal sin and temptation?
