KINDER - 4th GRADE

LESSON 1: PAUL CONFRONTED PETER (Galatians 2:11-21)

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (ESV)

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

  • When does it mean to be justified? Are people justified by faith or works?

  • Why is it good news that we are justified by faith rather than by works?

  • If we aren’t justified by works, why does God want us to obey Him?

5th GRADE

LESSON: ARCHAEOLOGY AND THE BIBLE

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

Archaeological discoveries confirm what the Bible says about history.  Look up the following verses and discuss how each of these verses has been confirmed by science.

  • How do archaeological discoveries help us trust the accuracy of the Bible?

  • What was one of the archaeological discoveries we discussed that was memorable to you?

  • Visit christiananswers.net. Search Jericho for kids and discuss the archaeological discoveries that support the Bible’s account of Joshua conquering Jericho.

6th GRADE

LESSON 3: WORLDVIEWS AND MORAILTY - NATURALISM AND NEW SPIRITUALITY

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 3:21-24
But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

This week we looked at how two different worldviews determine right and wrong.

Naturalism
If you use the naturalist map as your worldview map, you worship matter and believe that humans evolved accidentally. Therefore, you believe humans are the highest authority. Right and wrong are just feelings that change between societies. You believe that communities need to have rules so that everyone can live together without fighting all of the time. The humans who are in charge of the government get to decide what is right and what is wrong.

New Spirituality
If you use the new spiritualist map as your worldview map, you worship yourself because you believe god is a part of you. You also believe that humans are spiritual beings that evolved accidentally. Therefore, you believe that right and wrong are feelings and that each person needs to look deep inside his or her heart to find out what is right. You believe that if you follow your heart you will become a better person and you will earn good karma — this means good things will happen to you. If you do not follow your heart, you will earn bad karma — this means bad things will happen to you.

  • Summarize what naturalism and new spirituality worldviews teach about right and wrong.

  • Where have you heard these ideas expressed in culture?

  • Contrast what God says about right and wrong with what other worldviews teach.

7TH & 8TH GRADE

LESSON 5: THE CRUCUFIXION AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS (THE GOSPELS)

MEMORY VERSE: John 1:1-2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

  • Why are people prone to miss Jesus’ glory on the cross?Have you ever submitted to the Father’s will knowing it would bring suffering? How does understanding the purposes of God help you face suffering?

  • If a non-Christian asked you the question, “Why did Jesus die?” how would you respond?

  • Why is it important to not primarily see the Bible as a big book of good behaviors we should live by, but instead as God’s story of saving humanity through His Son?
