KINDER - 4th GRADE

LESSON 3: THE WILDERNESS TEST (EXODUS 15:22-17:7)

MEMORY VERSE: Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” (NKJV)

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

•  Why did the Israelites complain in the wilderness?

•  How did God provide for the Israelites?

• List your family’s needs. Then pray and ask God to provide.

5TH GRADE

LESSON 4: SLAVERY & EXODUS (EXODUS)

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 3:23-24

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

• How do each of these aspects of the Passover point us to Jesus and our redemption?

  • The Passover lamb

  • Blood on the doorposts

  • The Israelites escaped God’s judgment on the Egyptians

• How did God lead His people out of Egypt in the day and in the night?

• What does God say the Egyptians will see when He parts the Red Sea for the Israelites?

6th GRADE

LESSON 5: WHAT IS TRUTH?

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

This week, we looked at how Truth is True for everyone.

• With your family, list several Truths that do not change, no matter how someone feels about them.

We also learned the difference between Truths and feelings.

• Explain to your family the difference between something that is True and something that is a feeling.

• Ask your family members if they can think of a time when they thought they knew the Truth and then they read God’s Word and realized what they thought was True turned out to be a feeling.

7th - 8TH GRADE

LESSON 6: GOD GIVES JACOB A NEW NEAME (GENESIS)

MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 1:1-3 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.”

• Based upon this account in Jacob’s life, what do you think is the significance of a name change?

• How might God “wrestle” with us in order for us to gain a greater understanding of His grace and love in our lives?

• Why is it important that we see these moments as acts of grace on God’s part, and not acts of anger?
